IAFI represents the world fish inspection community helping them to provide fish, seafood and associated products that are safe, of acceptable quality and readily available for sale in the global marketplace. 




     Chris is a past-president of IAFI.  He has  been Chief Inspector to the Fishmongers’ Company in London since 1985 and responsible for the quality control of seafood sold at London’s world famous Billingsgate Fish Market. He was originally trained as an environmental health officer and has specialised in all areas of food control for over 35 years, but for nearly 30 of those years his expertise has been within the seafood sector.

Chris serves on several Government and industry advisory bodies in the UK dealing in all aspects of seafood.


He is a Board member of the Humber Seafood Institute and founder and Trustee of the Billingsgate Seafood Training School, a charitable company that runs training courses for the industry and members of the public. All the profits of the seafood school are ploughed into courses to educate young schoolchildren on the wider benefits of seafood and seafood consumption.


Over the years, Chris has undertaken several consultancy projects in many Countries around the world helping to set up quality control systems and training inspectors in many different areas including fish inspection, auditing, quality control, HACCP, markets and marketing standards etc.
